Meet Korey Vaughn, a 6th-grade teacher at Bristow Elementary who brings a fresh and vibrant perspective to the classroom.
Prior to landing at Community Education, Vaughn’s early experience was mostly with very young students, thanks to a program he participated in during high school in Elizabethtown. Little did he know this early interaction with young learners would set the stage for a career in education.
“Before Community Education, I had only worked with preschool and kindergarten students,” said Vaughn. “Throughout my five years at Community Education, I got to work with students in Kindergarten through Eighth grade.” That experience helped shape the teacher he has since become.
One of the challenges he faced at Community Education was helping co-lead summer camp with students and staff from diverse backgrounds for several years and learning how to best serve all of the present needs. This helped teach Vaughn a great deal about adaptability and the art of catering to various learning styles.
“Working at Community Education has prepared me for the rest of my career because I got valuable experience working with students and families before I started my teaching career. I learned many things that made my transition into my own classroom much easier for both my students and myself.”
His time at Community Education helped launch a bright teaching career, arming Vaughn with insights and skills to make the classroom a lively, engaging, and unforgettable place.
When asked what he is most proud of from his time working at Community Education, Vaughn replied, “I am most proud of the relationships I have been able to build with students and families that still last to this day.” Those connections testify to Vaughn’s ability to make a lasting impact. And he’s just getting started.
