When you entrust your student to Community Education, you are trusting us with something incredibly important, and we do NOT take that responsibility lightly.

From the moment a student arrives at our program until they are safely reunited with their family, their safety, well-being, and sense of belonging are at the heart of what we do.

Community Education follows all applicable Kentucky regulations for regulated childcare and maintains procedures designed to provide safe, healthy, and supportive environments for every student in our care. But for us, safety is more than meeting a requirement or checking a box. It is a daily commitment.

Our team works intentionally to create environments where students can learn, play, explore, and build relationships while knowing there are caring adults looking out for them.

What does that commitment look like?

From carefully screened and trained staff to active supervision, emergency preparedness, secure sign-in and dismissal procedures, field-trip safety, and communication with families, we have systems in place to help protect the students we serve.

Five Ways We Put Safety First

Carefully Screened Staff & Active Supervision

The people caring for your child matter.

We take great care in selecting, screening, and preparing the adults who work with our students. Staff must meet applicable Kentucky requirements, including required background checks and training, before working in our programs.

Once our staff is on site, safety continues through active supervision. Our team works to know where students are, what they are doing, and who they are with. Staff maintains appropriate supervision and accountability as students move between activities, classrooms, outdoor spaces, and other areas of our programs.

Prepared for the Unexpected

Our staff is prepared to respond when students need help.

While we work hard to prevent accidents and unsafe situations, we know that unexpected things can happen when students are learning, playing, and exploring. That’s why our staff receive required health and safety training, including CPR, first aid and other training appropriate to their responsibilities.

We want our team to be ready to respond calmly and appropriately when a student needs assistance.

Emergency Preparedness

We practice for the unexpected so we’re ready when it matters.

Emergencies are not the time to figure out what to do. Our programs maintain emergency procedures and regularly practice responses to situations such as fire, severe weather, lockdowns, shelter-in-place situations, and other emergencies.

These drills help staff and students become familiar with what to do and where to go, helping us respond as calmly and quickly as possible.

Our goal is simple: be prepared before an emergency happens.

Safe Arrival & Dismissal

Knowing where your student is—and who they are leaving with—is important.

We use established arrival, attendance, and dismissal procedures to help keep students safe throughout their time in our care.

Staff maintain accurate attendance and supervision throughout the program, and students are released according to established procedures to authorized individuals. We also work with families to keep emergency contacts, authorized pickup information, and other important records current.

Child Protection

Every student deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued.

Our responsibility extends beyond physical safety. We are committed to creating environments where students are treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.

Community Education staff receive training regarding child abuse and neglect and are required to follow Kentucky’s mandated-reporting requirements. We take concerns about a student’s safety and well-being seriously and expect every member of our team to help create an environment where students are protected and supported.
