Kaitlyn Ball, originally from Lexington, pursued her education at WKU, attaining dual Elementary and Special Education certifications. After graduation, Ball returned to Lexington and is a 1st Grade LBD (Learning and Behavior Disorders) Special Education Teacher. Before her time at Community Education, Ball gathered valuable experience through babysitting and working at a daycare in her hometown. Her tenure at Community Education spanned 1.5 years.
Ball’s proudest achievement during her time at Community Education was being able to create a safe, quiet space within the summer camp. This area served as a sanctuary for children who needed a break from emotional turmoil, offering them a haven to regain control over their feelings and actions.
Ball faced the challenge of navigating novel behaviors among the children and strived to find tailored solutions to meet each child’s unique needs.
Reflecting on her time at Community Education, Ball acknowledges its impact on her career. “It equipped me with crucial leadership skills, honed my parent communication abilities, and provided insights into state regulations governing childcare and schools. The experience also helped me to refine behavior management techniques and craft interesting educational activities.”
“I am immensely grateful for my time at Community Education. It was an ideal launchpad for learning how to manage my own classroom.” Ball emphasizes her genuine enjoyment of her job there and how it laid the foundation for her current role as a teacher.
